What Actually Happens at a Club Fitting (And Why It's Worth an Hour)
Most golfers picture a club fitting as an upsell in a lab coat. A good one is closer to a lesson you get to keep — here's the hour, step by step.

Golf Shop & Fitting Studio · Scottsdale, AZ
Launch-monitor club fittings, this season's new releases, and certified pre-owned gear — all under one roof. Fairway & Iron is Scottsdale's independent golf shop, where the fitting fee is credited toward your clubs and the advice isn't on commission.
Shop by Player Profile
Nobody plays the same golf. Start from your profile and we'll show you the heads, shafts, and set builds that actually fit it — new or certified pre-owned.
Forgiving game-improvement sets, high-loft drivers, and a nine-club build that leaves budget for lessons.
Shop Beginner →Players irons, low-spin drivers, and wedge setups tuned on the launch monitor to your exact gapping.
Shop Low Handicap →Lightweight shafts, higher launch, and easy-to-elevate hybrids that keep distance without chasing speed.
Shop Senior →Properly weighted junior sets sized to height — not cut-down adult clubs — with trade-up credit as they grow.
Shop Junior →From the Fitting Bay
“I came in convinced I needed the newest driver. Marcus put my gamer on the monitor first, beat it by one yard with the shiny one, and told me to keep my driver and spend the money on a wedge fitting instead. That's why I only buy here now.”
“Traded in my old irons, got the quote in ten minutes, and put the credit toward a certified pre-owned set that had been checked and regripped. Six months in they still feel like new clubs at half the price.”
“They built my son's first junior set sized to his height instead of selling us cut-down adult clubs, and explained the trade-up credit for when he grows. It's the kind of advice you don't get at a big-box store.”
Found Where Golfers Actually Ask
Our fitting guides, pre-owned grading standards, and launch-calendar breakdowns are structured so search engines and AI assistants can read them — which is why questions like the ones below surface Fairway & Iron in the answer, not just a maps pin.
Questions
Use the Book a Fitting button anywhere on the site — it captures what you want fitted (driver, irons, wedges, putter, or full bag) and whether you've been fitted with us before, so your fitter can set up the bay before you arrive. Fittings run about an hour and the fee is credited toward any club purchase.
Yes — even if you end up buying pre-owned. A fitting produces your spec sheet (head, shaft, flex, length, lie, grip), and that sheet is what makes any club you buy afterward the right club. We always test your current clubs first as the baseline.
Bring your clubs in, or list them in the trade-in quote form, and we'll quote a value the same day. You can take store credit (worth more) or cash out. Trade-in clubs are inspected, measured back to spec, and regripped before they're resold as certified pre-owned.
Ours are. Every pre-owned club passes a face-integrity check, loft/lie measurement, and regrip before it's tagged with a written condition grade — and everything carries a 30-day playability guarantee. If a club fails inspection it doesn't get a lower price; it doesn't get sold.
Our Launch Calendar page tracks every major release date, pre-order window, and in-stock status — plus the demo days where you can hit new releases on the launch monitor before you commit.
